Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts Choose chicken thighs for juiciness or breasts for a leaner option.
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce Can be store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 tablespoons honey Optional, for extra sweetness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Optional, for extra crispiness.

Garnish

  • to taste sesame seeds For garnish.
  • to taste chopped green onions For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the teriyaki sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil together. Add the chicken and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it preheat for about 5 minutes.
  • If you prefer extra crispy chicken, dust the marinated chicken pieces with cornstarch before placing them in the air fryer basket.

Cooking

  • Arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • If you like a more caramelized finish, brush some of the leftover marinade over the chicken in the last few minutes of cooking.

Serving

  • Remove the chicken and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice or serve whole, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the air fryer to restore crispiness.
