Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger finely grated
  • ¼ cup soy sauce or tamari
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 green onions sliced
  • 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce leaves separated and dried
  • Optional Toppings
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped peanuts or cashews
  • Extra green onions

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Add garlic and ginger; cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  • Simmer 3–5 minutes, until sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef.
  • Stir in green onions and remove from heat.
  • Spoon beef mixture into lettuce cups and add desired toppings.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to avoid excess grease.
  • Assemble wraps just before serving to keep lettuce crisp.
  • Sauce should be glossy, not watery—simmer briefly if needed.
