Ingredients
  

For the Sushi Rice

  • 1 cup sushi rice Rinsed under cold water until clear
  • 1.25 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

For the Bowl

  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 4 ounces imitation crab meat, shredded
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Soy sauce, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  • Combine the rice and water in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for about 20 minutes.
  • Once the rice is tender, remove it from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 10 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt; heat in the microwave for about 10 seconds to dissolve.
  • Transfer the rested rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture.

Assembly

  • Start with a scoop of seasoned sushi rice at the bottom of your bowl.
  • Layer on the sliced avocado and julienned cucumber, and top with shredded imitation crab meat.
  • Finish with a sprinkle of sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Serving

  • Drizzle soy sauce over your bowl just before serving. Add pickled ginger or a splash of sriracha for extra flavor.

Notes

Personalize your sushi bowls by substituting ingredients or adding proteins like shrimp, grilled chicken, or tofu. Storage: Best consumed within 2-3 days when stored in an airtight container.
