  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley Fresh herbs elevate the flavor
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For assembly

  • 2 cups marinara sauce Warm before serving
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded Can experiment with other cheeses
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Toast for added crunch

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  • Roll the mixture into meatballs about the size of a golf ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until browned and cooked through.

Assembly

  • While the meatballs are baking, warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Once the meatballs are cooked, toss them gently in the marinara sauce.
  • Halve the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking dish. Fill each roll with the meatballs and spoon over more marinara sauce.
  • Top each filled roll with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in the oven for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

Use fresh herbs for better flavor; consider adding toppings like banana peppers or jalapeños for an extra kick. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to three days or freeze for up to three months.
