  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips You can use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a larger bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined without overmixing.
  • Fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cool, slice into squares or rectangles and serve.

Notes

For the best results, avoid overbaking and consider chilling the batter for enhanced flavor and texture. Experiment with mix-ins like nuts or dried fruit for added variety.
