Ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the filling:
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 –3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add melted butter, egg, and salt, then gradually mix in flour to form a soft dough.
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  • Mix softened butter, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and cinnamon for the filling.
  • Roll dough into a rectangle, spread filling, and sprinkle chocolate chips.
  • Roll tightly into a log and slice into rolls.
  • Place rolls in a baking dish and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  • Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Use warm (not hot) milk to activate yeast properly.
  • Avoid adding too much flour to keep rolls soft.
  • Let dough rise fully for a fluffy texture.
  • Roll tightly for defined swirls.
  • Add glaze while rolls are warm for best absorption.
