  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature.

Add-ins

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until combined, and then fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto your prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and centers are soft.

Cooling

  • Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For the best texture, use room temperature butter and eggs. Don’t overbake; they should look slightly underbaked when removed from the oven. Adjust spice levels according to taste if desired.
