  • 2 cups Deli roast beef High-quality cuts for the best flavor.
  • 1 medium Onion, sliced For caramelizing.
  • 8 slices Provolone cheese Melts beautifully and complements the beef.
  • 12 rolls King’s Hawaiian rolls Their sweetness balances the savory flavors.
  • 2 cups Au jus Essential for dipping.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil For caramelizing the onions.
  • 1 tablespoon Melted butter Optional for brushing the tops.

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Assembly and Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected. Place the bottom halves in a baking dish.
  • Layer deli roast beef, caramelized onions, and provolone cheese on each roll. Place the top halves on.
  • Warm au jus in a saucepan until hot.
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter (if using). Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts and tops are golden.
  • Remove from the oven, slice, and serve with au jus for dipping.

Notes

Choose quality beef and experiment with different cheeses to enhance flavor. You can prepare the sliders ahead and bake them before serving.
