Ingredients
  

For the Filling

  • 6-8 pieces ripe pears, peeled and sliced Varieties like Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou are recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Prevents browning and enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjust based on the sweetness of the pears.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup walnuts, roughly chopped Can substitute with pecans or hazelnuts.

For the Crisp Topping

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced pears with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped walnuts. Toss gently to coat the pears evenly. Transfer the mixture to a buttered 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, melted butter, salt, and vanilla extract until combined; the mixture should resemble wet sand.
  • Evenly spread the topping over the prepared pear mixture in the baking dish.

Baking

  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are bubbly.
  • Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Serving

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes.
