Ingredients

Marinade Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup honey, preferably raw or organic for depth of flavor
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed best for flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • To taste none salt & pepper
  • Optional none lemon zest for added brightness

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • A handful none fresh basil leaves, chopped

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, chopped basil, salt, and pepper. If you want to elevate the flavor profile, add lemon zest.
  • Place the chicken breasts in a zip-top bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag or cover the dish, letting them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, ideally up to 3 hours.

Grilling

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high temperatures, around 375°F to 400°F. Ensure the grill grates are clean and lightly oiled.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Grill the chicken for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • After grilling, let the chicken rest for 5-10 minutes to retain its juices and ensure tender meat.
  • Slice the chicken, garnish with additional fresh basil, and serve it warm with your choice of sides.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to ensure proper cooking. Don’t overcrowd the grill to ensure even cooking. Experiment with the marinade by adding spices or herbs.
