Lasagna Ingredients

  • 12-15 sheets Lasagna noodles, no-boil or traditional
  • 2 cups Ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan
  • 1 pound Ground beef or sausage Use a mix for extra flavor
  • 4 cups Marinara sauce or homemade tomato sauce
  • to taste Sliced mushrooms, zucchini, or spinach Optional but recommended for added nutrition
  • to taste Dried oregano, basil, salt, and pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown your ground meat. If using vegetables, add them for a few minutes until softened.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, a pinch of salt, and some dried herbs to enhance flavor.

Layering and Baking

  • Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Place sheets of lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture and then the meat and sauce.
  • Repeat the layers two or three times, finishing with a generous layer of mozzarella cheese.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Allow the lasagna to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Don’t overdo the sauce to maintain texture. Lasagna can be assembled a day in advance for enhanced flavors.
