  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Enhances flavor and helps prevent browning of berries.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Thickens the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor.

For the Crisp Topping

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats Provides texture.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adds sweetness and richness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Provides warmth and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed Creates a crumbly topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine mixed berries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Toss gently until the berries are evenly coated. Pour into a greased 9x9-inch baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add cubed butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Spread the crisp topping evenly over the berry mixture in the baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the berries are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.

Serving

  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, don't overmix the topping and let the crisp rest after baking. Consider serving with ice cream or whipped cream.
