  • 1 cup granulated sugar

For the Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Can be adjusted to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced pears with granulated sugar and lemon juice. Toss gently and let sit for a few minutes.

Making the Crumble Topping

  • In another bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Add the softened butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Assembly and Baking

  • Spread the pear mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  • Generously sprinkle the crumble topping over the pears.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.

Serving

  • Allow the crumble to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, possibly with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For added crunch, mix in walnuts or pecans into the crumble topping. Experiment with spices like nutmeg or ginger for a unique flavor.
