Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread cubes day-old bread, dinner rolls, or French bread
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • ¾ cup parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder or 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place bread cubes in a large bowl.
  • Drizzle with olive oil and melted butter. Toss until evenly coated.
  • Sprinkle garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) over the bread. Toss again.
  • Add grated parmesan and gently toss to coat.
  • Spread bread cubes in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  • Cool 2–3 minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Slightly stale bread crisps best.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan so the bread browns evenly.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle additional parmesan or fresh parsley after baking.
