- Pear Filling
- 5 –6 ripe pears Bartlett, Anjou, or Bosc, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Crisp Topping
- ¾ cup old-fashioned oats
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup brown sugar packed
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup cold butter cubed
Preheat oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
Prepare filling: Add sliced pears to the baking dish. Toss with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and vanilla. Spread evenly.
Make topping: In a bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until coarse crumbs form.
Assemble: Sprinkle topping evenly over pears.
Bake: Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
