  • 4 cups watermelon chunks (seedless) Cut into small chunks.
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons) Freshly squeezed preferred for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar Adjust according to taste preference.
  • Ice cubes For serving.
  • Lemon slices and mint leaves For garnish (optional).

Preparation

  • Cut the watermelon into small chunks and remove any seeds to yield about four cups.
  • Roll the lemons on the countertop with the palm of your hand before juicing to maximize the juice yield.

Blending and Straining

  • Combine the watermelon chunks and freshly squeezed lemon juice in a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
  • Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove pulp and seeds.

Mixing and Serving

  • In a large pitcher, combine the strained juice with cold water and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar if needed.
  • Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the watermelon lemonade over the top, garnishing with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Chill your watermelon and water beforehand for an even more refreshing drink. Store leftover lemonade in the refrigerator for up to three days.
