Ingredients

  • 6-8 medium-sized Fresh Oranges Yields the best flavor and zest.
  • 4 cups Granulated Sugar Required for sweetness and proper gelling.
  • 1 cup Water To help extract the juice.
  • 2 sticks Cinnamon For signature wintery flavor.
  • 2 whole Star Anise
  • 5 whole Cloves
  • 1 cup Lemon Juice Enhances flavor and helps set the jam.
  • 1-2 teaspoons Grated Ginger Optional add-in for extra zing.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Wash the oranges thoroughly to remove wax.
  • Peel the oranges, removing the white pith, and cut them into quarters, removing seeds if present.

Juicing

  • Zest two of the oranges into a bowl.
  • Juice all the oranges into a measuring cup.

Cooking

  • In a large saucepan, combine orange juice, zest, sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add in cinnamon sticks, star anise, and cloves.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and let simmer.
  • Simmer for about 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  • Stir in the lemon juice and simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and pour the jam into sterilized jars while hot, sealing tightly.
  • Let the jars cool to room temperature before storing in the refrigerator.

Notes

For perfecting your jam, use fresh spices, and consider adding chili flakes or vanilla for variety.
